Our Mission
"The mission of the Rural Transportation Advocacy Council is to protect and
promote rural and small metropolitan transportation interests, as well as creating a stronger and more effective
rural and small metropolitan transportation advocacy network".
What We Do
Advocacy that supports transportation infrastructure, mobility, accessibility and
economic development, including transit, that responds to the needs and special circumstance of rural Arizona
through:
- Legislative relations at both the state and federal level
- A focus on transportation funding at both the state and federal level
- A focus on goods movement and the global economy; with the CANAMEX north/south corridor and the I-40/I-10/I-8 east/west corridors traversing through rural Arizona
Who We Are
The Rural Transportation Advocacy Council is a consortium of the cities, towns,
counties, Council of Governments, and Metropolitan Planning Organizations of rural Arizona. "Rural
Arizona" is defined as those areas that are not located within the boundaries of the Phoenix or Tucson
metro regions.
Member Organizations
The Council is directed by a board which is comprised of a representative from
each of the member Council of Governments and Metropolitan Planning Organizations. These representatives
are elected officials and are chosen by their respective boards for participation on the Council.
